"Montee, who lost her auditor's race in November to Republican Thomas Schweich, was elected by members of the state Democratic committee to take over as chairman of the party.
She replaces Craig Hosmer, a Springfield lawyer who is a longtime confidante of Gov. Jay Nixon.
The change was made Saturday, just a few days after Montee told reporters that she thought the Democrats failures in November indicated the party needed some changes."

The really great thing for Ms. Montee is that this appointment will give her greater access to the money of the Democrat Party contributors, making the installation of the margarita machine in her car that much more possible.
One has to wonder; would Mayberry elect Otis to be the Mayor?
