"Day 1 of the Manning trial of Barack Obama in Harlem, New York is now history. Observers from all over the world and from various states were in attendance, including persons from Germany, Canada, Hawaii, California, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida.
Today's activities were primarily preliminary--the march around Columbia University, the questioning and selection of the jury, and opening remarks by Dr. Manning.
The trial begins in earnest tomorrow."

It looks as thought the good Reverend wasn't just talking when he said he was going to do this. Further info can be found at The Conservative Monster.
The next few days should prove interesting as evidence is presented. This is the first time, as far as I know, that the "birther" argument has been presented in such a public forum. And the whole use of the grand jury system in it's original form is something to watch. I didn't understand much about this (and probably still don't), but this story forced me to do some research which was quite interesting, leading me to the conclusion that this is the proper function and form of the Grand jury in a historical context.
If Dr. manning can keep this from becoming a circus it is the forum which will, or at least should, put the "birther" issue to rest, either proving or disproving the theory. Should make for some unusual reading over the next few days.
