"Over 300 people gathered at the Holy Shrine in Knock, County Mayo, today where they were told the Virgin Mary would appear at 3pm.
Joe Coleman, the Dublin-based self proclaimed visionary, predicted that the Virgin Mary would appear at Knock after crosses appeared in the sky.
Coleman left the 300-strong crowd after a number of hours. Clutching his side and saying that he felt ill he said he had received another message from the Virgin Mary.
So far there have been no reports of any apparitions.
Coleman was refused permission to pray in the grotto by officials when he approached. He was forced to await the apparition with the other pilgrims in the grounds outside.
The Catholic Church has dismissed any claims or proclamations that he has made.
This year the pilgrims, at least, came prepared. Those starring the sky in wait were, for the most part, wearing sunglasses to protect their eyes for the sun."

I was wondering how this would go. Anytime someone gives a date for anything concerning God or apparitions I'm leery. Sometime, somebody will be right because God has promised through Mary that some of the visionaries would foretell precise dates and times as proof of their legitimacy and the legitimacy of the miracles that will occur.
Once Our Lady stops appearing there will be three warnings given to the world. Mirjana will witness the warnings and they will ocurr on the earth. Ten days before each of the warnings, she will advise the priest she chose for this task (Father Petar Ljubicic), who will then pray and fast with Mirjana for seven days. Then, three days before the warning is to take place, Fr. Petar will announce to the world what, where, and when the warning is to take place. Fr. Petar has no choice, and must reveal each warning. Mirjana's testimony will be a confirmation of the validity of the apparitions and a further incentive for the conversion of the world. After the first warning, the others will follow within a rather brief period of time. After the three warnings, the permanent visible sign will be left on the mountain where Our Lady first appeared in Medjugorje. Those who are still alive will have little time for conversion. For that reason, the Blessed Virgin calls for urgent conversion and reconciliation. The permanent sign will lead to many healings and conversions before the messages become reality. Medjugorje.com
This, apparently, wasn't one of those times.
As far as I recall, the Fatima miracle was given a date, wasn't it? And there were over 70,000 witnesses! Many atheists testified to it, as they had come along to jeer, but ended up on the ground crying out to God. It's well worth reading about, or there is the whole film on youtube "The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima". I won't send a link, as my youtube links never seem to work. Just type in the film name on a youtube search (assuming you want to, of course, I sounded a bit bossy there! haha). I dunno, a couple of days of sobriety and I reckon I run the whole show! Hope you OK Tom, and thank you so much for the prayers, at Mass especially.
ReplyDeleteI know that the apparition happened when it was supposed to but i think the "Miracle of the Sun" happened without warning. I'll have to go refresh my memory when I get back home tonight.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to boss me around as much as you want. I've been married for 28 years and I've grown accustomed to it. Not that my lovely wife, whom I adore and would never, ever say anything untoward about, would ever boss me around. She is a saint and I worship the ground she walks on. I've just heard that some wives can be bossy. Not mine though, no way; no how.
Sorry for the groveling.
Found this on Wikipedia, so probably better to do further research, but it's a taster.
ReplyDeletePortuguese secular newspapers had been ridiculing for months as the absurd claim of three shepherd children that a miracle was going to occur at high-noon in the Cova da Iria on 13 October 1917.[1]
According to many witness statements, after a downfall of rain, the dark clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disc in the sky.[2] It was said to be significantly less bright than normal, and cast multicolored lights across the landscape, the shadows on the landscape, the people, and the surrounding clouds.[2] The sun was then reported to have careened towards the earth in a zigzag pattern,[2] frightening some of those present who thought it meant the end of the world.[3] Some witnesses reported that their previously wet clothes became "suddenly and completely dry."[4]
Estimates of the number of witnesses range from 30,000-40,000 by Avelino de Almeida, writing for the Portuguese newspaper O Século,[5] to 100,000, estimated by Dr. Joseph Garrett, professor of natural sciences at the University of Coimbra,[6] both of whom were present that day.[7]
Interesting.......It's also the anniversary of the first apparition, tomorrow, Coincidentally enough, and the Pope is traveling to Fatima for it.
