AN IMMIGRATION SOLUTION

"Tens of thousands of people across the Bay Area turned out in protest of Arizona's tough new immigration law. The demonstrations went on all day and some stretched into the night.

In San Jose, thousands of marchers headed to an evening rally at city hall. In San Francisco, a separate demonstration wrapped up in the afternoon, but not without a bit of trouble.

Three people were attacked and at least two others were arrested. The people assaulted were part of the Minutemen demonstration, a group in favor of Arizona's new immigration law.

They said a large group of immigrants' rights supporters followed them to the BART station on Market Street and started punching and kicking them, and calling them names.

"They said we were racists, and we were against them, and against their town, and against San Francisco," said Parker Wilson with the Bay Area National Anarchists. "What they were saying, they said we need to get out and called us racists, and that we need to go home. And then they just attacked my friends and me."

A friend of mine (thanks, Uncle Donald) e-mailed me the other day and suggested those that are so enamored of the illegal immigrants should be given a place where they can protect and support them with their own money, apart from the rest of us evil racists that would like to see our borders enforced. I think that's a great idea and I'd like to nominate San Francisco.

In 2007 we read this statement from the Mayor:

"Mayor Gavin Newsom vowed Sunday to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for immigrants and do everything he can to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids.

The mayor cannot stop federal authorities from making arrests, Newsom told about 300 mostly Latino members of St. Peter's Church and other religious groups supporting immigrants. But no San Francisco employee will help with immigration enforcement."

It would appear that the city would be on board and I'm sure their Congressman (person? I get so confused), Nancy Pelosi is all for it:

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently told a group of both legal and illegal immigrants and their families that enforcement of existing immigration laws, as currently practiced, is "un-American."

The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants she was addressing as "very, very patriotic."

"Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families?" Pelosi told a mostly Hispanic gathering at St. Anthony's Church in San Francisco."

The Archdiocese of San Francisco would most certainly support such a move. This is from their website:

"USCCB Migration Chairman Joins Arizona Bishops in Decrying Anti-Immigrant Measure, Calls for Comprehensive Reform

WASHINGTON— In solidarity with the Catholic bishops of Arizona, Bishop John C. Wester of Salt Lake City, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Migration, issued a statement April 27, opposing the enactment and implementation of Arizona SB 1070, which criminalizes undocumented immigrants.

“This new law, although limited to the State of Arizona, could have impact throughout the nation, in terms of how members of our immigrant communities are both perceived and treated,” Bishop Wester said in the statement. “SB 1070 gives law enforcement officials powers to detain and arrest individuals based on a very low legal standard, possibly leading to the profiling of individuals based upon their appearance, manner of speaking, or ethnicity.”

Bishop Wester called SB 1070 “symptomatic of the absence of federal leadership on the issue of immigration” and called for “the Administration and Congress to work in a bipartisan manner to enact comprehensive immigration reform as soon as possible.”

Based on the evidence I think San Fran gets the nod. Now, how to fund the thing. San Francisco at one time sought to declare itself a military free zone:

"Everyone knows that San Francisco is a focal point for anti-war sentiment. Protests, civil disobedience and other acts designed to show opposition to the war in Iraq are standard fare in these parts. But now it seems that San Francisco anti-war activists have taken their opposition to the war in Iraq a step further.

Not content with simply protesting the war, they've trained their sights on all things military. In an apparent effort to rid the city of any semblance of its military history, various leftist groups, and even some city officials, are trying to erase the military's presence altogether. In short, San Francisco has declared itself a military-free zone."

Let's see, the last time I remember a city trying to remove the U.S. military from its borders was in Charleston S.C. at Fort Sumter, a little thing we like to call secession. So, if San Fran wants to secede, let 'em. This makes the funding of their little sanctuary for illegals less troublesome. The American people will no longer send them any money, for anything. That way we don't have to worry about them using say, education money to teach illegals or highway funding to improve the roads they drive on. A nice clean break from the union will do fine.

So then, how will they afford this sudden influx of the poor, innocent illegals (how's that for an oxymoron)? Simple. All those, from Al Sharpton to the idiots in Hollywood to the unions like SEIU that are bent on making sure we can't control our borders can write them a check. They can put their money, not ours, where their mouths are.

So now we've got the place and the funding is piling up (leftists are so generous). What's the next step? Getting the illegals to their new home. From this point on, all illegals caught within our borders will be put on a bus, or if that's too Draconian, perhaps a private coach, all lovingly paid for by those on the left that have for so long decried the mistreatment of our illegal brothers by the cruel U.S. government and its evil surrogate Arizona, and driven, very carefully while avoiding any surface irregularities on the roadway, to their posh new homes in San Francisco. There they will fall into the loving arms of the good people of the city, welcomed as prodigals returning to the place of their birth. A cry of joy will go up across the land as checks are inked and consciences are soothed.

And the sun will rise once again over another beautiful morning in America. Mexico will have a place to unload their poor and oppressed while the left in our country can welcome them as long lost brothers and shoulder the cost they've so long yearned to accept. And it won't cost the rest of us a cent, with the added bonus of getting San Francisco out of our hair and Pelosi out of the Congress.

With its impending bankruptcy, maybe we should just go ahead and give the entire state of California to them. No one can ever say we aren't generous.

(If you want, pass this on. Maybe we can start a movement.)
