This video addresses the key problem in the USCCB scandal; should the Church endorse any political party, whether explicitly or implicitly? The answer, in my opinion, is yes; but only in so far as the party agrees with the truth, not because of any political agenda. That is at the core of the problem with the American Bishops. Instead of holding the politicians to the fire and demanding they uphold the truth the Bishops have seemingly decided to change Church teaching to make it more pleasing to the political point of view they and their politician friends adhere to.
I've been reading a lot of Pope Benedict's speeches and papers lately and I gotta hand it to him; he does exactly what he should. He slavishly follows the truth, aggravating those on the left (Progressives, environmentalists, USCCB) and those on the right (Neo-cons, bankers, trad-caths) with his incredibly robust teachings regarding the Catholic faith. Instead of supporting any political agenda he challenges the politicians to support Christ.
Isn't that what the Church is supposed to do?

Hi, Tom!
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad I can't watch the video right now, but I will later when I get home. The one thing that shows the hypocrisy of the social justice Catholics is that when you say you support Obama, they think you're great and being non-partisan and impartial, but when you say that his pro-abortion policy makes him unacceptable for public office, then you will be accused of being partisan.
It's almost expected that a Catholic will be Democrat for the Democrats support social justice, right? Rhetorical question.
Hey Paul,
ReplyDeleteThe Democrat Party, ever since the New deal, has done a masterful job of adopting and then promoting their adoption of those Catholic teachings which seem to support their Progressive agenda. Of course, they leave out all the parts that clarify the teachings and would tend to work against the party interests.
Doesn't this remind you of the Soviet Union and their disinformation campaign in the American media? I suppose it is helpful to learn from a master, or perhaps your father, the ways of deception.
That, Tom, is exactly why the crowd in Pilate's courtyard cried, "Dimitte Barabbas, crucifige Iesum!"
ReplyDeleteThey wanted the release of Barabbas which in Aramaic means "the son of the father". They wanted the son of their father the devil released.
