ARIZONA DEPUTY SHOT BY DRUG RUNNERS

So when do you think we'll hear the outcry about this deputy's civil rights being violated? How many will be in the streets marching to defend him?

This is the reason Arizona is going to defend it's borders.

"A Pinal County Sheriff's deputy was shot in the stomach Friday by an undocumented immigrant off Interstate 8, according sheriff's officials.

Lt. Tami Villar told 12 News that the search and rescue deputy was investigating a load of marijuana in the desert and was confronted by five suspects. She also said the wounded deputy is expected to survive.

Deputies believe at least two people were armed with long guns and at least one handgun. The deputy, whose name was not released, was patrolling alone in what is considered a high-traffic drug and human-smuggling corridor.

Villar said the deputy radioed dispatch about 4:30 p.m. to say he had been shot off Interstate 8 and Arizona 84, but he could not be found when authorities arrived at the scene.

The deputy was located more than an hour later and taken to the Casa Grande Medical Center for treatment.

His condition was not available."

D.C. TO MAKE POT LEGAL TO GROW AT HOME

"Medical marijuana users in the District may not have to go to a clinic or a doctor’s office to get their dose; they may be able to go into their backyard.

D.C. Council is thinking of adding a provision to the new medical marijuana bill that would allow some users to grow plants for their own use. They’d likely be limited to two plants per home."
NBC Washington

As all of us children of the '70's know, the one effect of smoking dope that dwarfs all others is the sense of contentment (followed closely by incredible paranoia, but that's another story). I find it interesting that as our economy and civilization continue on their downward trajectory that it seems our government is doing everything it can to keep us high. Everybody is legalizing pot.

So let's see; drugs, porn and gambling. All of these were considered immoral at one time and now they are promoted by government and society in general, along with violent sports and mindless entertainment on TV.

Bread and circuses, my friend, bread and circuses.

DRUGS AND THE CONSTITUTION PARTY

No, you don't have to be using one to support the other.

Read Ioannes' comments on the Constitution Party Drug Plank
here.

I believe that the federal war on drugs has been the biggest waste of money and greatest infringement on human rights in America in the last 30 years. As a long time abuser of drugs I can say, along with Ioannes, that if you want them, you'll get them. Laws never stopped me.

What the law has done is create a system of corruption so pervasive, even Al Capone would feel a tinge of disgust. Gangs and governments, including to an extent our own, rely on drug money for their very existence. Remove the profit and you will remove the crime. It worked with the end of prohibition.

Let states, counties and cities decide how best to handle the problems in their areas. Let them have real power as they were intended to. As an example, here in Franklin County we have a big problem with meth cooking. What is our response? We are in the process of making it illegal for grandma to buy cold medicine. City by city these laws are going into effect. While the citizens have the right to do this, what would happen if they had real power? What if the people of Franklin County could pass a law stating that if one is convicted of manufacturing or distributing meth they will be hung by the neck until dead on a scaffold erected in front of the courthouse; for all to see and as a warning to other cookers. And further, what if we said that any public official caught doing business with the meth cookers would suffer the same consequence? Now that, my friends, is a war on drugs.

As with anything else, you can do what you want, as long as you don't infringe on the rights of others. So if you want to grow some pot, smoke it in the privacy of your home or with friends, knock yourself out. As long as you aren't driving or endangering someone else in some way, who cares? Most drugs should be treated as alcohol and tobacco are treated. Legal for those of a certain age and available and taxed in the marketplace. There are some drugs, however, like meth, that are in a different category. It is hard to make the case that their use is possible over any length of time without causing harm to people beside the user. I believe that they would have to be treated differently than smoking dope or eating a few mushrooms.

But that's a decision for the people of my town, county or state to decide. Get the federal government out of the drug business, whether in enforcement or through corruption. They've proven they can't get the job done.

MCCAIN AND THE NANNY STATE

"...Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) wants this same FDA, with its dismal safety record, to regulate dietary supplements. The Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA), S. 3002 (text of this bill posted on Senator McCain's website), that McCain has introduced with one cosponsor, would repeal key provisions of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) to “more effectively regulate dietary supplements that may pose safety risks unknown to consumers.”

Just another limited government, free market, conservative Republican in action. Isn't this why we have pharmacists? Let us purchase whatever drugs we want. We are responsible for ourselves. If we have a question we can go to the pharmacist or even the internet for our answer. I trust both (and my own intelligence) far more than I do the FDA.

Where is the authority for the FDA in the Constitution?
