"A student on a Belleville West High School bus was beaten for his choice of seat, not because he was white, according to a witness and police.

"The incident appears now to be more about a couple of bullies on a bus dictating where people sit," said Belleville Police Capt. Don Sax, who originally said Monday's attack may have been racially motivated."

Who cares why the kid got punched? Was it because he was white, sat in the wrong seat, looked at the wrong person or was just an easy target? Does it matter?

Kids have been getting punched, jumped, beat and bullied on since the beginning of time. It's part of growing up. This doesn't need to be turned into a national news story, with all of the national nannies wringing their hands in mock outrage. What needs to happen is the kid needs to settle this himself, gain some respect. Ohterwise, he'll just get beat again.

This is one of lifes little lessons.

ARE THE ANGELS THE ANSWER TO A PRAYER?

Heaven forbid someone should come into a neighborhood and help the people that live there clean it up. It's not like the Guardian Angels are an unknown entity. They have been effective in neighborhoods all over the country. The St. Louis Police didn't support them 20 years ago, either. What, are they afraid that the Angels may be able to have a positive affect on crime? Would this make them look bad? Or, is there something else? Is someone afraid that an outside group might upset the boat, maybe find out things that would be best left unknown? Someone is making money. I don't know who but I know it is happening. It goes hand in hand with the drug trade. Could this be the reason that the police won't support the Angels? There has to be some reason that after all these years the drug and crime problem continues to climb. I've known and talked to too many people in North St. Louis to believe this problem can't be solved. The subject of police corruption is always at the top of their list. I have discounted some as talk but the stories and the complaints have been too consistent over too long a period to not have some truth in them.

So I'm just asking the question; what are the police afraid of?

"Abdul "Sam" Samara, who runs a grocery in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood, said drive-by shootings and drug activity are rampant in that pocket of north St. Louis. He has been to 15 funerals in seven years.

With that reality, Samara greets Guardian Angels' founder Curtis Sliwa as the cavalry of sorts. Samara thinks the New York-based volunteer crime prevention group could do wonders if it took root in Hyde Park.

But after a meeting on Monday, St. Louis police wouldn't commit to cooperating with the Guardian Angels."

"US credit shrinks at Great Depression rate prompting fears of double-dip recession.

Both bank credit and the M3 money supply in the United States have been contracting at rates comparable to the onset of the Great Depression since early summer, raising fears of a double-dip recession in 2010 and a slide into debt-deflation.

Professor Tim Congdon from International Monetary Research said US bank loans have fallen at an annual pace of almost 14pc in the three months to August (from $7,147bn to $6,886bn).

"There has been nothing like this in the USA since the 1930s," he said. "The rapid destruction of money balances is madness."

M3 "broad" money supply, watched as an early warning signal for the economy a year or so later, has been falling at a 5pc annual rate.

Similar concerns have been raised by David Rosenberg, chief strategist at Gluskin Sheff, who said that over the four weeks up to August 24, bank credit shrank at an "epic" 9pc annual pace, the M2 money supply shrank at 12.2pc and M1 shrank at 6.5pc.

"For the first time in the post-WW2 [Second World War] era, we have deflation in credit, wages and rents and, from our lens, this is a toxic brew," he said...

...He (Mr. Congdon) predicted that the Federal Reserve and other central banks will be forced to engage in outright monetisation of government debt by next year, whatever they say now."

We'll hear alot about "Dirty Dancing" but all real Americans will remember Patrick Swayze in "Red Dawn".

"Patrick Swayze personified a particular kind of masculine grace both on and off screen, from his roles in films like "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" to the way he carried himself in his long fight with pancreatic cancer. Swayze died from the illness on Monday in Los Angeles, his publicist said. He was 57."

"Earlier this year, quite by happenstance, I read a book written by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter James B. Stewart.

"Heart of a Soldier" tells the story of two men who, well before it happened, foretold not only of the terrorist attack of 9/11 but also the 1993 bombing in the World Trade Center parking garage that preceded it.

One of the men, Rick Rescorla, was chief of security for Morgan Stanley with an office in the World Trade Center. He died on 9/11, but not before he shepherded all but six of Morgan Stanley's 2,700 employees to safety because of a well-prepared and well-executed evacuation plan. He'd have made it out, too, had he not gone back in the building looking for those six.

The other man, Daniel J. Hill, is still alive..."
